Help with Grainform

Turn an image into grain artwork, adjust the result, and download it. Conversion happens in your browser.

Which images can I use?

PNG, JPG, WebP, and SVG files are supported. You can choose a file, drag it onto the page, or paste an image. Files up to 24 MB and 64 megapixels are accepted. The working image is scaled for fast local conversion.

How do I get a transparent PNG?

Choose Transparent under Background, then download the PNG. The checker pattern in the preview shows the transparent area. White or a custom color will be included in the downloaded image.

Is the SVG really vector?

Yes. Grainform writes each visible grain as its own SVG circle. It does not put a PNG inside the SVG.

Does my image upload?

No. The image is read and converted locally in your browser. Grainform does not send your image, filename, or export to a server.

Why does a large image take longer?

Detailed images need more analysis. Grainform limits the working preview to keep conversion responsive, then draws the individual grains at full export size. If your browser runs low on memory, try a smaller source image.

Something did not work

Try a PNG or JPG under 24 MB, then reload the page and choose the image again. Grainform works in current desktop and mobile browsers that support canvas and Web Workers. Email hello@grainform.app if the issue persists.
